LIVERPOOL 1995/96

Merseyside giants Liverpool had 14 figures released in the first series of the FAPL Collection, all were released in January 1996, with the figures painted in the kit worn for the 1995/96 season.

Many of these figures, 9 in fact, were later released in the England national kit as part of series 2 of the National release, those 9 figures being - Collymore, Barnes, Fowler, Ruddock, McManaman, Redknapp, James, Jones and Scales.

All these Liverpool figures were original first time master models, however two of the England figures featured a different body pose, with the figures that had alternative body poses being Fowler and Scales.

This was the first release of Stig Inge Bjornebye, however i personally feel the one released a couple of years later in Norway natioal kit was a much finer sculpt, however that figure is of course very rare.

A mixed bag in terms of sculpt accuracy, the figures of most the players were very detailed and bore a huge likeness to the actual player but there was the sculpt of Jamie Redknapp! This for me is one of Corinthians worst sculpts and unless you read the name on the shirt or base you would have a hard time in determining which player it was supposed to be. On the other hand there are sculpts of Neil 'Razor' Ruddock which are superbly detailed and accurate as was the sculpt of Kop legend Ian Rush.

Liverpool figures were also released in single player window boxes which featured the figure and a single podium with a backing card for Liverpool too. Inside these boxes was also a Liverpool Collectors information file which depicted all 14 figures from this set but it also gave you the chance to claim one of two Liverpool figures in this seasons away kit!

The two figures which were painted in the 1995/96 away kit are Robbie Fowler and Jamie Redknapp. You could not buy either of these two figures direct from the shop or from Corinthian themselves and were made available solely with this promotion. The figures were not in blister but in clear sachet format only and buying just 8 figures gave you enough tokens to claim one of the away kit figures. No away kit collector cards were produced though.

All 14 Liverpool 1995/96 home kit figures were released as single blisters, they were also all released as a single gift box, with contained the figure, collector card, Liverpool collectors information file and also a single display podium complete with Liverpool backing card. These are not something i would say hold much monetary value, however they can be increasingly difficult to obtain, certainly no easy task acquiring a full set of 14.

There were also 3 different version of the 4 figure pack

LV4A - Barnes, Collymore, Jones & Wright
LV4B - McManaman, Fowler, Redknapp & Babb
LV4C - Rush, Ruddock, James & Scales

In addition to this Corinthian also released a 3 different 4 figure gift box, the gift box contained 4 Liverpool figures along with a FAPL 4 figure display stand, 4 collector cards and collectors information leaflet.
